The Port Paws Dog Festival in Port Jefferson Village will mark the first time in village history that Port Jefferson hosts a festival that’s all about the pooches. The event is will celebrate dog ownership and showcase registered canine competitors in a Dog Docks aquatic competition. This is a free event hosted by Sayville Rotary. Every year, pets and their owners have a wonderful, proud march down Main Street Sayville to the delight of onlookers who crowd the sidewalks.
Pets of all shapes, sizes and breeds are in attendance......dogs, cats, birds, horses, lizards, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, turtles, rabbits and even a ladybug have been paraded through our down town.
In recent years, this event draws 200-300 people from as far New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts.
The parade ends in Rotary Park where judges make their determination on a various award categories.
